I’m here in New Jersey, my hometown, spending time with family and eating way too much gluten. But how can you say no to Nonna’s homemade pasta?!

Being surrounded by many generations of women this week I’m looking at motherhood through a different perspective. In my practice I see a lot of women in the perinatal stage of life and spend a lot of time talking about the adjustment to motherhood, but this week is a little different. I have the pleasure of being surrounded by women in ALL stages of motherhood, from new mama’s to great-grandma’s! It is such a joy. And it’s got me thinking about maternal mental health throughout the lifespan. The 4th Trimester is uniquely challenging and deserves a lot of attention and support, it certainly should not end there! Each stage of motherhood presents us with challenges whether we’re trying to get sleep, sending our little one off to school for the first time, dealing with a defiant teen, or preparing to send our baby off to college. No matter what stage, these transitions push us beyond our limits, break us open and can leave us feeling vulnerable and alone. So, how do we cope? Who is our support system? What stage of motherhood are you in and are you giving yourself permission to receive support?

“Remember, you don’t have to do motherhood alone!”

I’m only an email or phone call away. Don’t hesitate to reach out! If I’m not able to support you I can connect you to resources in your area.

Wishing you a restful Mother’s Day this weekend!
